My Spoonie Life this Winter

Do y'all remember that song with the lyrics, "winter just isn't my season?" Truth!

Though I really enjoyed connecting with you guys this month, I know I wasn't here much. Which I regret, but could not really do anything about, unfortunately.

Here's what I have learned...

(1) If I don't write all my blog posts in advance, this is what participating in the UBC is probably going to look like.

(2) Might look like this even if I do.

(3) My epic crash this past month might be connected to doing #allthethings in December even though I was sick.

About that last one - I was so happy to be spending time with my friends, getting some Christmas shopping done, and eating fun food, that I went out and went out and went out, even though I was burdened by the latest plague my son caught at work.

It felt like I was getting away with it.

But chronic fatigue syndrome, or ME/CFS as it is usually now called, seems to have had the last laugh, because this month has been a wash! Sheesh.

Spoonie Self-Care & Spirituality

But you know what, I am still grateful I got to participate and connect with you guys at all.

My commitment to myself this year includes emotional and spiritual healing, rest and self-care. And I am learning that my illnesses are a kind of spiritual initiation.

It's likely I'd resist healing and spiritual growth without them. At least to some degree.

So, I guess - *cough* *mumbles* *shrugs* - I am grateful for them, too. ;)

How Did the UBC Challenge Go
for You this Month?

(1) Did you get more traffic?
(2) Did you get new subscribers?
(3) Did you have neat conversations?
(4) Did you feel more connected w/ your readers?

I hope you had a great experience.

And hopefully, I will see you next time!

Love you guys!

It was so nice seeing you this month. You write such inspiring posts. For me, I had to admit to myself that committing to the challenge was too much with my neurofatigue. I am impressed that you even posted what you did considering how you felt. You powered through it; good for you. I am committed to posting one blog per week and atleast reading and commenting on one everyday.

Looking forward to seeing you again! Take good care of yourself.

I am happy and encouraged to hear that you took a stand for your own self-care! I am considering one a week going forward, too. Not sure what I will do about the UBC challenges, though. They are great for traffic, but it really is hard for me to get through the whole thing.

Hi! It sounds like you did a lot of self care which is so much more important than finishing 30-31 posts. I think I wrote 26 posts which I consider a win. Before that, I was not writing as much as I should. I got back into the writing habit, posted on IG and found new subscribers there. All around it was a good month. See you next time and be well!

You took care of yourself and that is what truly matter. I ran into some issues myself. Life is beyond our control . We do the thing we have to do.

Thank you, Brenda! That is so true about life. I guess you just have to roll with it. Always good to see you, though, so that's another great thing about this challenge, even though I wasn't there as much as I would have liked.

I am glad you took the time to take care of yourself. It is so easy to overdo it!

I did OK this challenge. I have a lot going on as I am finishing my final edits on my novel and trying to get ready for a launch later in the spring/early summer.

Be well and I will be sure to let you know when my novel drops!

Thanks, Dominique! You are absolutely right - it is so easy to overdo it. Hey, congrats on your novel! I will look forward to hearing when it is launched.

I agree that self-care meaning self-love is paramount, Guilt is a no no for me. I had to stop writing everyday, too.

I'm with you on guilt! And working on regret. Because you're right - self-care is a must.

I hope you are feeling better now, Jeanine. I get where you are. It feels like I'm always tired, too. I've accepted that it is my nature. I can do x number of things and I have to rest often. I didn't show up every day either. And I can only read x number of posts. It requires so much energy for me. But it is a good experience for me this month to recognize that I can't do it all. Take care.

Thank you, Lily! I'm actually still under the weather, but hopefully, not for much longer. I know what you mean about how it's good to know where your limits are.

Jeanine, I am so glad to see your post today. I am also sad you got sick! But you will build up your strength again, I am sure. I hope you'll write some posts over the next 8 weeks and then post them in the April (I'm assuming) UBC. Big hugs!

Jeanine, I've enjoyed getting to know you and hope that you feel healthy and strong soon. I wasn't there everyday either, but participating helped me write more than usual. Hope you're back in the next round!

I wouldn't say it was a wash, Jeanine, Self care trumps anything else. I haven't checked my metrics yet. Still, it was fun collaborating with you. You take care:)

Thank you, Cherry-Ann! I am trying to think more positively about it, so your encouragement and positive thinking about it helps.
