Morning Yoga Challenge: Day Two

7/16/2019

Morning yoga can give you more focus all day long. It’s so important to take a few minutes for yourself in the morning to breathe, connect with your body, and set your intentions for the day. As you breathe through your yoga flow, you’ll be providing your brain with loads of fresh oxygen. This will help sweep away any last bits of sleepiness and increase your mental clarity for the day ahead. - YogaSix.com

Day Two: The Seated Twist Pose

You might notice the centering benefits to your consciousness. As the layers of muscle and bone revolve deeply, your attention is drawn into the stable, unmoving center of the pose. And this ability to stay centered as the hubbub of the world swirls around you will pay obvious dividends in the yoga of daily living. - Julie Gudmestad
The Seated Twist pose is calming to your mind and nervous system, and can re-energize as it releases stress & toxic energy. The energy it releases comes from deep within your body.

Meditation Moment: imagine that long-held stress, deep within your body, is being released. Welcome the sense of calm and the refreshing energy that comes to take its place.

See you tomorrow!

Love, Jeanine

good luck on the yoga. We will be interested to see how it changes your life. So far so good. If I were to try what you just did, my bones would sound like a bowl of rice krispies. Good luck to you on your new endeavor.

Ha! Rice Krispies. :) Thanks for your kind wishes! I do understand about the pies. There are modifications you can do, including a chair version, so you don't even have to get on the floor. I know that because my mom used to do and love chair yoga.

I would need EMT assistance to get me up from that pose.

Well, we wouldn't want that to happen, Roy! Over the years, when Inhave tried yoga poses, I have quite often found that I couldn't do an exact replication of what I saw in a picture or video, but could do an approximation and still get some of the benefit.

Hmmmm...I wish I could even get close to this pose. I'll have to stick to walking, I think. Good luck with your yoga!

I will do this pose tomorrow. What a pleasure this is! I have also done chair yoga and it occurs to me that those people who don't believe they can do these poses would still gain infinite benefit from chair yoga. I did a google search of seated twist pose chair yoga and a lot came up.) I am so glad you are bringing these poses to us. Such a blessing!

You will be happy to know I completed day 1 pose! Day 2 will take some doing and like Roy says, I may need EMT or a crane to get out of this position! LOL

You are right! I am so happy to hear that, Martha!! And I totally understand about needing a crane. I have totally felt that way about yoga before.

That's a very comfy position for me. I will do that in the morning (after I wake up... because... um... it took me four hours to write my blog post, lol). I will also try to be calm and meditative while seated in that position. Fortunately, I am blessed with very loose hip joints so my body won't interfere. But my short attention span...

Ha! My mind does love to wander at times, too. But how wonderful to hear that that is a comfy pose for you. That's fantastic. Maybe if you do connect with calmness, your attention span will stretch and hold.
