Lenten Meatless Meal Planning Ideas: Caramelized Onion Pasta

4/12/2019

Pasta is one of my favorite meals! And if you have been going meatless on Fridays, for Lent, I say you can't go wrong with any kind of pasta dinner.

Last week, I suggested making your meatless meals, comfort food meals, so that you get to add something even though a meatless dinner might feel like something has been taken away. Pasta is a perfect way to do both.

Based on last week's comments, I want to clarify that I am not suggesting a permanent change in your diet, but a temporary one, for Lenten Friday meals. Or even just one meatless meal.

Today's meatless meal idea is Caramelized Onion Pasta. Just looking at this video's cover makes me want to make some and at the time of this writing, I haven't even had breakfast yet. :)

What's your favorite meatless pasta? Mine is usually fettucine alfredo, but this one is a great idea for changing it up a bit, since we have that one a lot.

Let me know what you think, if you try it.

Love pasta - but it doesn’t love me. Goes straight to my hips. LOL I don’t go meatless - not even through Lent (Not required in the Methodist Church). But, you’ve given those who do go meatless a great, and I’m sure delish, dish.

Thanks, Eydie!! I don't think it's a requirement anywhere, but I know some denominations are more likely to do it than others. I don't do it, either, because I am already mostly meatless. :)

The thing I like about pasta is that there are so many ways to prepare it making it seem like totally different meals! Fettuccine Alfredo is my favorite also!

I experiment a lot with pasts that I have even put spinach and beetroot in it. The beetroot one was a lovely pink coloured pasta. I usually don't put meats in my pasta preparation. Great recipe.
