Morning Yoga Challenge: Day Five

7/19/2019

Once you make your morning yoga flow a habit, your body will get used to waking up at that specific time. This will help to regulate your circadian sleep cycles, which we often throw out of whack by varying when we go to sleep and wake up. As your sleep cycle regulates, you’ll find it easier to fall and stay asleep and you’ll wake up feeling more alert and ready to take on your day. - YogaSix.com

Day Five: The Mountain Pose

This pose promotes stillness in both the mind and the body. It is a very upright pose that brings a feeling of strength and confidence. It is also very opening, which frees you from fear. It is a very grounding posture because of the connection to the earth through the soles of the feet.

The Mountain Pose - as you focus on your breathing, this pose may help you decrease anxiety and increase awareness, making it easier to notice life without judging it. And standing tall in the physical sense may increase your ability to stand tall emotionally.

Meditation Moment - ask yourself where in your life you most need to stand tall, and see what comes to mind. Just keep breathing deeply and slowly and breathe love into whatever thoughts come, in response.

You Can Continue through the Weekend

I have been taking weekends off during this blog challenge, so I will be bringing you days six and seven next week. But if you signed up to get the whole challenge, all at once, you can feel free to do them over the weekend, and still try them again next week, if you'd like.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Love, Jeanine

I am always amazed by those folks who "yoga". I'm too busy moving mountains.

I believe they move mountains, too, Roy, just in a different way. And yes, you sure are busy.

This was a nice little nudge to get me back into my Yoga practice (it's been years since I have consistently done yoga). I do feel there are a lot of benefits, especially as we get older (a-Hem! haha).

Ahem, indeed! That is definitely part of the reason I have become more interested in developing a yoga practice. You are most welcome, Jill.

I like this pose but standing tall is beyond me. The only place in which I will ever stand tall is the Land of Liliput. But I can aspire to stand up straight!

"Tall" has permanently escaped me, too, Alice. But like you, at least if I work on standing straight, I can be as tall as is possible. And, indeed, working in my posture gave me back an inch of my height.

Thanks for reminding me of the mountain pose. It's very restful just reading about it. I will do it in the morning when I do my 4-7-8 breathing exercise.

Well I can handle this one Jeanine! But while doing the mountain pose, I'd be dreaming of going back to the mountains!

What a lovely dream, Martha! That is often how wonderful moments begin - with a lovely dream.
